Pointing out someone's fault, weakness and shortcomings or describing  someone's  qualities with highlighting some of the faults in them is called criticism. It is in human's nature to observe the happenings around. So when you see the things or events which don't coincide with your point of view, you start making critical comments upon them. observing activities and subsequently finding faults don't confine at an individual level but everything around you which effect your day today life become subject of a criticism. 

Why do we criticise each other? 

1. Finding faults and the qualities in someone else is part of human nature. 

2. Criticism shows difference of opinion and like or dislike on particular issues. 

3. Criticism not only highlights positive and negative aspects of an individual life but it even touches all the elements which keep effecting everyone's life. 

4. Intention of criticism may be pulling someone down. 

5. Criticism may also help in opening up your eyes if you are out of track. 

6.Criticism may also help in rectifying your own mistake. 

There are mainly two types of criticism -

1. Destructive Criticism - A criticism which infuriates a person to take destructive step is called destructive criticism. For example, if you keep highlighting bad habits all the time about a person instead of counselling or showing way out  to quit his bad habits, he could possibly not only harm himself but even cause harm for others too. 

2.Constructive Criticism - When a person is criticised about his activities which could potentially smirch his personality or mar his professional career is called constructive criticism. Under the constructive criticism, critic not only highlights the negative aspects but even pinpoints the ways, which could play a vital role in not only protecting a person's image but even help in protect his career to be marred. 

Is criticism important for us? 

1. Since criticism is inseperable part of human nature so it definitely plays somehow significant role in person's life. 

2.Constrictive criticism imparts substantially well in human's growth. 

3. Even destructive criticism plays significant role in life since it reflects nature, intention and overall character of critics. 

4. Criticism makes you aware about your fault, flaws, weakness and shortcomings. 

5. Criticism enables you to bring your life back on the right track if you are rudderless or get out of track in your life. 

6. Criticism keeps guiding you in moving forward on every stages of life. 

How to handle the criticism - 

1. Develop mindset of conceding point - Many of you hardly tolerate if someone simply says " Your this step is not right " Or " You are wrong". Why does it happen? Because you don't have defensive mindset or courage to listen your weakness or shortcomings from others. Question rises " Have you ever raised questions to yourself on your own actions which you keep taking in your life. Fact is that very few among you have guts to find faults in their own actions. In such situation it gets essential to develop a mindset of conceding point and get others feedback on the issues. Why do you need to take others comments into consideration ? Because 'Mistake is also in your nature.Hence it gets essential that you should entertain other's criticism with an open heart even if it looks bitter or hurt your emotion. 

2. React after judging the critics - Experience, qualification and struggle matter a lot in life. Never pay attention to those who don't fulfill the parameter which is required to become an eligible critic on particular issues. What you need to do is to put in your points before him, talk to him or just ignore his comments even if he is adamant to demoralise you. you need not to waste your energy by  getting aggressive. Rather try to remain calm and make an effort to become a self critic with giving more emphatic and befitting reply. 

3. Be polite, have patience, never distract - Criticism is inevitable when you take any kind of initiative in your life. What you need to do is to remain polite, believe in your work, and have patience. Criticism may have enough potential to divert your attention  from your main objective. You may even be forced to stop what you have started. Many among you find fault in others to hide their own shortcomings. Hence you need not dishearten yourself rather keep evaluating your own performance politely, patiently with examining the validity of criticism on your work. 

4. Try to be a lifelong learner - Neither underestimate your hard work nor overestimate your own work. No one is perfect. You have to accept the fact that there are enough scope of learning which could help in improving your performance. So whenever you come across with any type of criticism in any area of life, try to learn what is missing in you. Your passion for learning with accepting the criticism must continue. 

5. Never be rigid on your stand - Even if you have firm belief and confidence in your work, thoughts or the initiatives, you must leave some space for changes in your thought and ideas. Nothing is completely right or wrong. Avoid company of those who just keep digging out your faults and have no words of suggestion. 

6.Keep enhancing your knowledge -  Best answer of any kind of criticism is to hone your skill, get more experience and knowledge, work on areas you are weak, concentrate on your goal, don't hesitate in getting feedback from anywhere. 

Criticism is in human nature. It exists in surroundings you live in. No one can remain untouched from it. You have to accept the truth that criticism is an integral part of your life and works. Take criticism as an opportunity to improve yourself as well as your performance.
